Karera
Last April 27-28 at Long Beach for the Toyota Grand Prix. Anne has always wanted a Lexus and Hannah would also like to race cars. With Milka Duno, the female race driver of an LMP 900 car No. 11 for a pose and autograph with Hannah. She landed 14th in the Rolex sports car series race. Milka has quite a remarkable educational and career background: a naval engineer with a master's degree in organizational development, naval architecture, maritime business, and marine biology...whew!
APRIL FOOL'S DAY
At Catalina Coffee Co. in Redondo. Hannah and I played chess here last Friday. I am here again for a cup of Java coffee to review my architectural drafting notes for my exam tomorrow, had my refill twice already then this post:
A significant date of the year, at least the way I treat this day. Though this post is 2 days late from said date, I want a posting to remember April 1. Undocumented but 'orally' handed down by some pioneers of PhilDHRRA, the actual date of PhilDHRRA's founding anniversary is April 1. So I chose this date to go to Mindanao in 1992. Recollecting, if I am still in Mindanao, last Saturday would have been my 14th year in Mindanao. I have been absent in Mindanao for almost 3 years now, but I can't help it -- I can't uproot myself from that land of 'promise' and settle here in the US to realize the American 'dream'. The problem of the latter is you have to fall asleep in order to see it. Once you're awake, the reality is entirely different. The former on the other hand, you become part of realizing the 'promise'. I really miss Mindanao, especially the people and the landscape. Mingaw diri sa US! Coffee makes me awake and prevent me from having that 'dream'.
